Daryl Henry Chesley

Citizen, Not Politician

"Mr. Chesley, I want to wish you the best of luck in your bid for the Henry District Seat on the Hanover County BOS. Although I do not live in the Henry District, I have long awaited a promising new candidate for the Henry Seat. I know your character & professionalism as a central office administrator with HCPS & as a father of HHS students. Your representation is greatly needed!"  Submitted on Contact form 3/11/19

Core Beliefs - Integrity Matters!  Hanover County, and the Henry District, is a great place to live and raise a family.  I believe that honesty and integrity matters!  Individual property owners rights need to be supported by a limited (but accountable and efficient!!!) government.  There should be no reason to raise taxes in such a prosperous area and time.

As your Supervisor, I am accountable to you.  I will proudly represent you!

I have the right temperament for the job - one that will make you proud to have me represent you and your family!

Background - I have lived a life of leadership and service.  After graduating from Villanova University, I served 6 years in the Navy.  While at the end of my commitment, I earned my Masters Degree in teaching and taught Middle School Civics in Newport News.  I took on additional leadership challenges, along with earning my doctorate, and became the principal at James Monroe High School in Fredericksburg.  What rich and deeply rewarding learning experience!!  I then served as Assistant Superintendent of Education / Chief Academic Officer with Hanover County Schools.  I learned a great deal about what works, and where opportunities for improvement exist, in our Schools and in our County.

Currently, I work at the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) where our  life saving mission inspires me every day.  Every day we seek to improve - so we can save more lives.    My role involves directing UNOS's nationwide educational efforts for our transplant professionals.

The experience I have in leadership positions in large organizations sets me apart.  I look to bring my knowledge of continuous process improvement to Hanover County government.  We Can Do Better!

EducationI am a life long learner.  I graduated from Tabb High School in Yorktown and then went to Villanova (NOVA Nation!) where I met my wife Kate.  I've since earned a Masters in Education from ODU; and am proud to say I earned my Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from The George Washington University.  Today, I continue to read and stay current in leadership and educational best practices.

Family - My wife Kate and I will be celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary later this year.  Wow!  We have three great kids.  All strong, independent and capable.
